Why we exist

Tumby Bay Interchurch Council Inc · Est. 1969

We started as a simple idea: local churches working together instead of apart. Over 55 years, we've grown into a trusted presence in our district—supporting families, helping kids, and keeping our community connected.

Today, we're best known for our chaplaincy work in local schools. We believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and cared for— whether they're in the classroom, on the playground, or at home.

Our work is grounded in Christian faith, but our doors are open to everyone. We're here to listen, to help, and to walk alongside our community—one conversation at a time.

Our mission & vision

What drives us, and where we're headed.

Mission

To promote local Christian churches in our district and support Pastoral & Spiritual Wellbeing (PSW) in local schools— fostering faith, community, and resilience.

Vision

A connected, compassionate Tumby Bay where every child and family experiences belonging, spiritual care, and the love of Christ through church and school chaplaincy.

Our heart

We believe community is built on small acts of kindness. A listening ear. A warm meal. A prayer. A hand to hold. That's what we're here for.

Embracing technology for inclusion

How we're using voice AI to reach further and care deeper.

In our rural community, many elderly members struggle with vision loss, and some children have reading difficulties. We believe that access to spiritual care and community news should not depend on being able to read small print.

That's why we're partnering with ElevenLabs to use lifelike Text-to-Speech technology. We are creating warm, clear audio versions of our pastoral resources, school chaplaincy materials, and weekly service announcements.

  • For our elderly: Audio Bibles, prayer books, and service bulletins delivered via WhatsApp for members with sight loss.
  • For our schools: Engaging audio versions of wellbeing lessons for kids who struggle with reading or attention.
  • For the housebound: Weekly community updates and recorded sermons shared via local radio and phone trees.

Our commitment

Every voice matters.

We are open to sharing our journey with ElevenLabs through a case study. We believe in measuring real impact—engagement rates, listening time, and feedback from our community.
